Duchess China 1888 History
Duchess China have been making classic Fine Bone China products since 1888 in Stoke-on-Trent, England. With two factories locally and a rich archive of traditional motifs, they've got the ability to design and manufacture fully bespoke products and ranges from start to finish.

What To See & Do At Duchess China
Offering a new tour for 2026, the ‘Beyond the Bottle Oven’ experience is a collaboration between Duchess China 1888 Ltd and the historic Gladstone Pottery Museum site just across the road – the current home of The Great Pottery Throw Down.
Exploring the past, present and future of the local pottery industry, Judge and Ceramicist, Keith Brymer Jones played a big part in supporting the launch. Duchess actually make the Capel Salem mugs for Keith Brymer Jones on-site. Organised by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, there are various dates available over summer to book a factory tour.
Just a short walk around nearby streets, you’ll discover more factories from days gone by, along with striking modern murals by local artists, celebrating the history of Longton.
